Rue Montorgueil with Flags

I just love this painting. Maybe because I live in Washington D.C. and love the patriotic views of my city. This captures that feeling that sometimes we come together and it means something to all of us.

According to Google Arts and Culture, this was painted on June 30th, 1878 for a festival declared that year by the French government to celebrate “peace and work”. I don’t know all the politics behind the scene, but I can get behind all of us coming together to celebrate peace and work, especially if it is work you love.
